Audubon geology trip reports sights along the Saco River
The Saco Valley Audubon Society conducted a two day geology field trip from Union Falls through Hollis Center and Hiram Dam. Leader C Paul Wight noted rock types including granite plutons pegmatites and metamorphic varieties with minerals quartz feldspar tourmaline garnet and diopside and surface features of clay sand layering potholes and weathering.
