Five Crewmen Aboard Reds Shoot Down Two U. S. Navy Planes

Communist antiaircraft fire shot down two U S Navy planes during raids on North Vietnam. Rescue pilots said the five crewmen could not have survived. In another ambush near Pleiku two Americans were killed, two wounded, and over 80 South Vietnamese troops were killed or missing. The death toll rose to 403 for U S casualties in Vietnam.

Saco Hikes Tax Rate to 72.5 Mills in 1965 Vote

City Council approves a 72.5 mill tax rate for 1965 by a 4 to 2 vote after a special session.
