Gilligan petitions water district over Route 1 Wells plan
John Gilligan filed with the State Public Utilities Commission to have the Kennebunk and Wells Water District supply water to his Route 1 Wells development. The request follows a district policy adopted Aug 14, 1962 requiring town planning board or selectman approval for water main extensions in new developments. The Wells planning board rejected Gilligan's plan citing small proposed lot sizes and street widths. The Wells Beach area, served before the 1962 policy, is cited as precedent.
