Maine passes recreation bills expanding facilities and trails
The 106th Legislature approved a $3 million bond for land and park acquisitions and a $1.36 million special development fund for Maine parks. A Maine Trails System was created with state and private land use partnerships, while a Saco River snowmobile plan set new fees and grants. Also funded are a $10,000 study for Inland Fisheries and Game and expanded snowmobile funding from the gasoline tax.
