Four Teachers Added To Thornton Academy Staff
Thornton academy announces four new faculty for the 1959 60 year. Robert L Bowie headmaster said the additions include Robert Kany English and reading public relations advisor a Thornton graduate who earned a journalism degree at the University of Michigan and a masters in educational administration, Lillian Cyr French graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Roland Bolduc algebra and geometry former Biddeford high school and Dominic Dibiase mathematics former Wilton academy and University of Maine who will head new mathematics. Bowie also aims to hire a girls physical education instructor to replace Janice Ayer who moved to Portland high school.

Llewellyn C. Fortier 60 longtime Maine Employment Security Commission chairman since 1942 died at his home. A Navy WWI veteran, Fortier led the Hancock County Legion, served on the national exec committee and chaired Legion baseball and high school oratorical contest committees. He leaves a wife Lora Carter and daughter Leah, wife of Navy Lt. Robert Malaney. Fortier helped organize Ellisworth American Legion post and commanded it three years. He also chaired Hancock County Legion Council and eastern Maine district. Fortier was born June 4, 1899 in Ellsworth and survived by family.
