Economic inequality and job discrimination in the 1950s
A discussion highlights that while the education gap between Negroes and whites shrank, the income gap did not from 1950 to 1960. Poverty remains high among Negro families, with over half below the $3,000 income threshold, versus under 20 percent for whites. The dialogue links employment opportunities to racial income gaps and supports substantial tax cuts to boost job creation and growth, arguing that equal opportunity would lift GDP and potentially fund education, while stressing the need for real job opportunities to advance broader progress.
