Greek draft constitution limits parliament and empowers cabinet

The proposed constitution reduces parliament to 150 seats from 300 and lets the cabinet decree major laws while parliament mainly reviews minor bills. The monarch may keep the title of commander in chief, but control of the military shifts to the government. The king’s future and the regent’s role depend on post election government. The plan includes 30 at large seats, a possible premier chosen by parliament, and continued outlawing of the Communist party. Press freedom is guaranteed.
