Passamaquoddy blockade on U S 1 disrupts traffic

Father Enright to Leave Biddeford Parish

Rev. Cornelius J. Enright, pastor at St. Mary's Biddeford, plans retirement to St. Joseph's Home Waterville. He announced his resignation at Sunday Masses amid no comment on a successor. The 77 year old cleric, from Ballyneen Ireland, has led St. Mary’s since 1953 after arriving as a 1922 curate.

Canoeists Spend Night In Prison

Dan Ahern and two companions following Benedict Arnold's trail after a near capsize on the Chaudiere River spent a night in a St Joseph prison in Quebec. The group planned to push 40 miles to Levis then paddle across the St Lawrence to Quebec aiming for July 9 arrival from Cambridge, Mass.

Monsoon Drowns Test Battle in Dak To Ben Het Run

Monsoon rains thwart a two month clash between South and North Vietnamese forces around Dak To and Ben Het. South Vietnamese troops fought with U S air and artillery support as Americans watched the South test its solo capability. An estimated 60 Americans died and about 300 wounded as U S forces kept roads open and airlifted supplies while B 52 bombers delivered massive secondary firepower.
