Man Missing In Boating Accident At Parsons Beach
A 57-year-old Sanford man Roland A Cookson is missing after a Sunday boating accident off Parsons Beach Kennebunk. His son Stephen Cookson 28 and companions Edward Lynch 28 of Sanford and Dan Griggs 34 of Revanna Mich survived after their 12 foot boat swamped by breakers. Coast Guard helicopter and Wells police with local help searched until 5 30 p m Sunday and resumed Monday morning. The group was trolling about 100 yards from Parsons Beach when lines snagged a lobster buoy and an incoming breaker swamped the craft. The spot lies between Mousam River and Little River known for treacherous swells. The survivors were rescued by Dr Charles S and Dr Douglas Howard of Drakes Island.
