Nascent chapel in Peabody shopping center attracts shoppers
In Peabody Massachusetts the St Therese Chapel inside Northshore Shopping Center hosts Mass confessions and a library under Father Joel Schevers a Carmelite priest. The chapel opened decades ago and claims to be the first in a shopping center. It uses radio television and billboards to spread its message with quick sermons for shoppers and a dial a priest line for penitents. Father Schevers a Chicago born 1942 ordination holder also holds pilot ratings and notes the mass schedule logs reach hundreds of calls on Holy Days.
