Totem Pole Ignatz Moves to Milwaukee Museum Renovation
A 41 foot Haida totem pole named Ignatz, carved about 1860, was moved from the old Milwaukee Public Museum site to a new location. The fragile cedar required disassembly, repair, and weatherproof restoration by 18 workers over more than a month. Project engineer Fred Utech oversaw the delicate operation and praised the successful relocation.
