Saco councilor censures Dexter over contract negotiations

Union negotiations on a firefighters contract anger Saco Deputy Mayor Robert Cassette who accused City Administrator John Dexter of usurping council power. Dexter, with Fire Chief Pendleton and City Accountant Cota, negotiated a one year contract granting a nine percent wage increase. The council approved 6 to 1 after Dexter said the informal authorization existed and would require council approval to take effect.

Cross-examination of Pittston officials began as changes include moving a tangential offshore terminal.
