Reed Proposes Mild Progress Cost Will Rise
Republican Gov. John H. Reed took the oath for a four year term, the longest Maine history. The 41 year old Fort Fairfield potato farmer and ski historian completed the final three years of the term begun by Dr. Clinton A. Clauson after his death. Reed had been Senate president and was elected in 1960 for the last two years, then won a four year term last November by 519 votes over Democrat Maynard C.
