Mrs. May Waterhouse of 73 High Street Saco and William Buzzell of 77 Harrison Avenue Saco are medical patients at Webber Hospital. Daniel Daily of 45 Quimby Street Biddeford has returned home from Saco Hospital where he was a medical patient. Peter A. Sargent, son of Mrs. Madeline M. Sargent of Western Avenue Kennebunkport, began basic training at the Naval Training Center Great Lakes.
A cribbage tournament sponsored by Division 1 Ancient Order of Hibernians opens Sunday at 7 30 p m in the hall at Elm and Main Streets Biddeford. Other local meetings include the Saco Extension Association 9 30 a m Tuesday at GAR hall Saco and a Rebekah Lodge past noble grands gathering Monday at Old Orchard Road Saco. Willard F. Edgecomb Jr. aged 43 of 7 Woodcock Ave Saco died yesterday in Raritan N J He was born in Merrimack Mass on April 21 1920 son of Willard F and Marjorie Peasley Edgecomb educated in Dayton schools employed as a truck driver for Hemmingway Bros for 14 years previously drove for Saco Fire Department and served as a Saco Police Department special officer He is survived by his widow Pauline Poitras Edgecomb and one son Dwight both of Saco two sisters Mrs Arthur Swanson Derry NH and Mrs Paul Noyes Maywood Calif one aunt and several nieces Ducted at 10 am Monday from Shumway Funeral Home 35 Spring St Saco Friends may call tomorrow and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
Elroy Ernest Moore 86 of 8 School St Biddeford died in a Saco hospital after a long illness Born December 22 1877 he worked 55 years as a machinist at the Saco Lowell Shops retiring 14 years ago He was a Foss Street Methodist Church member and Dunlap Lodge F and A M He leaves two sons Harold Portland and Gordon Kennebunk three daughters Mrs Lawrence Durgin Saco Mrs Albert Barbour Yarmouth Mrs Wendell Andrews Ardelle one sister Mrs Ralph Foss North Carolina and nine grandchildren Friends may visit the funeral home tomorrow and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Gov Reed commended the state's volunteer firefighters for risking their lives to protect property. He told the Central Maine Firemen's Association that fire causes tremendous losses daily and praised local departments for their splendid efforts.

Police car rentals and new car purchase were approved with detailed line items for wages and maintenance. Street lighting sidewalk work and a housing authority were approved. The advertising budget includes funds for a letter carriers convention. A tax lien refund to the First Baptist Church was defeated. Reimbursements for storm damage were postponed.
Dana A. Little 37 of Brunswick named director of research and planning at the Maine Department of Economic Development. Bowdoin graduate and former acting director since the previous resignation, Little joined the department in 1957 as a planning consultant.
