Runaway Undersea Oil Well Plugged By Workers

Officials said a runaway undersea oil well was apparently plugged after a 12 day spill that coated 300 square miles of Pacific and California shores. Union Oil workers poured cement sealant and drilled a solid plug while Coast Guard assessed damage and officials halted nearby drilling. A $1.3 billion lawsuit was filed against Union Oil Gulf and Texaco over property damage.

Shaw Trial Witness Admits Being Hypnotized

New York accountant Charles J. Spiesel testified at the Shaw conspiracy trial that he attended a party hosted by Clay Shaw where Kennedy assassination was discussed. Under cross examination the defense showed Spiesel was subjected to hypnosis in 1962 63 and 64 amid suits alleging police hypnosis torture and damage claims. The case centers on Shaw alleged to have conspired with Ferrie and Oswald though Shaw denies seeing either man.
