Kissinger May Leave Harvard Teaching Post Soon
Harvard professors learned Henry Kissinger cannot commit to returning and the government department began nominating candidates for an international relations chair. The vacancy has existed since Kissinger joined the Nixon administration four years ago and a decision was expected by February. Meanwhile ICCS chairman Gauvin said American POWs could be freed around February 10 with Vietnamese prisoners to follow in South Vietnam.

Boston’s 80 Million Road to Nowhere Opens Today
The final section of a long troubled extension of I 93 into Boston opens on a limited basis this morning. Despite plans, traffic experts call the project a road to nowhere as it cannot handle expected volumes and the three mile link remains a gateway to downtown to be used cautiously with limited hours.

Bill Moves to Ban Saturday Night Special Handguns
Rep. John Dingell introduced a House bill to ban “Saturday night specials” handguns. The measure follows Nixon’s guidance to define and curb cheap, die-cast zinc alloy handguns melting below 800 degrees Fahrenheit, with aims to raise production costs and remove them from the market.
