Soviet fishing violations discussed at Rhode Island forum
Ambassador McKernan told the University of Rhode Island Fishermen's Forum that Soviet vessels may be falsifying ICNAF log books to hide violations south of Rhode Island. He urged evidence for protests in Moscow and warned unilateral action could weaken US positions at global talks. Canada remains the only other foreign lobster competitor, with two Canadian ships active.
