Tannery Action Is Dismissed
PORTLAND AP A U S District Atty says federal laws inadequacy to prosecute land based river pollution installations forced dismissal of a suit against a Saco firm. The Biddeford Saco Red and Reel Club charged Saco Tanning Corp with oil spill into the Saco River canceling a fishing derby. Investigation showed oil escaped from a faulty pee and entered river via sewer. The Clean Water Restoration Act of 1966 requires proof of gross negligence or willful spilling. Government had no alternative but dismissal.
