The Light in Darkness at Christmas Time
A poetic reflection frames Christmas as a night at the edge of dawn where Christ's birth emerges from shadow. References to shepherds magi and the star highlight the contrast of darkness and divine light. Scriptural passages from St. John Paul and Revelation underscore the theme that Christ as light reveals wisdom and knowledge.

Christmas Peace Corps Weddings in Nigeria Share Holiday Spirit
Kenneth L. Whiting reports from Lagos Nigeria that Christmas is marriage season for the Peace Corps here with five weddings planned around the holiday week. Four of the couples are Peace Corps volunteers and one pair includes Catherine Zastrow of Fort Thomas Kentucky and Nigerian Clement Onyemeukwe. Volunteers pack Lagos hotels and hostels as schools close for yuletide and many volunteers, mostly teachers, have time to travel sightsee and host parties. Amid the bustle, a Lagos tree and blue motor scooters symbolize a festive season as corps members undertake projects during Christmas and year end vacations. The piece also notes a meditation on light in Isaiah and includes a schedule of a church service with hymns and readings.
