Maine survey shows under 65 lack knowledge of county's aging population

In York county a University of Maine survey of about 1 000 residents found that those under 65 show limited awareness of the 65 plus population. Some 11 percent of locals are over 65, yet 61 percent misjudge the share. About 80 percent support allowing older workers to keep working past retirement.

Power plan eyed for Maine timberlands allagash site

The Association for Multiple Use of Maine Timberlands is studying a proposed 168.6 million dollar Cross Rock hydro electric project on the Upper St. John River in the Allagash region. The group met with Governor Reed and top power officials to discuss enabling legislation while warning the plan could flood 200000 acres of timberland and wipe out the Allagash as known.
