Oil Spill Regulation Takes Effect Across Industries
Boston reports a final oil discharge regulation by the U.S. EPA for waters of the United States. It targets refineries industrial users fuel oil dealers drillers and bulk plant operators with oil spill prevention control and countermeasure plans due within one year of the rule. Plans require professional review penalties up to 5000 dollars per day for noncompliance. The rule, under the Clean Water Act Amendments of 1972, was proposed July 119 1973.
