Saco River zoning rules to guide corridor lands
Saco Planning Board reviews corridor rules with Car Laws of the Saco River Corridor Commission. Three districts resource protection limited residential and general development will govern lands within 500 feet to 1000 feet of the river. Local boards must designate districts within 60 days or the commission may set them. Districts restrict industrial use and development, with exceptions in general development. A March 1974 deadline is set for completing districting, with hearings to follow.

Tax Violators Are Sentenced In Bangor Area IRS Case
In Bangor and nearby towns a restaurant owner, a cement block maker and a lumberman were sentenced by U S District Judge Edward T Gignoux on IRS violations. Nathan J Korbitz 55 received suspended six month terms on 70 counts with three years probation and a 2000 fine for withholding 7570 taxes. Albert Gagne and wife Joyce were fined 10000 with 12 month suspended terms plus two years probation for omitting 118851 income and evading 40457 taxes from 1966-68. Raymond Dube and wife Solange were given one year suspended terms with two years probation and 2500 fines for tax evasion. The Dukes pleaded guilty to evading 9902 in 1966. IRS official Whitney Wheeler said the sentences conclude criminal charges and civil actions will pursue taxes, penalties, and interest due.
