Year end films offered two distinct thoughtful wins
AP critic reviews two Universal releases, To Kill a Mockingbird and Freud, as evidence of refined craftsmanship. Mockingbird adapts Harper Lee with Mary Badham and Phillip Alford, while Gregory Peck shines under Mulligan Foote Pakula. Freud casts Huston with Clift and York in a cerebral study of minds, supported by Parks. Both aim for minds over spectacle.
