The Journal runs a special Looking back on 1974 supplement printed on the new 40 page Goss Urbanite press at Alfred Road Biddeford plant. Under supervisor Ernest Lohndorf the crew hit speeds up to 24000 papers per hour. Editorial content by Journal staff using Varityper Scanner with electronic equipment. Full production to begin January 6 at the $750000 plant with an open house to follow.

Versatile Park Planned At OOB
Old Orchard Beach residents would gain a multi purpose Memorial Park on First Street. The plan includes two tennis courts a playground area basketball handball outdoor movies and more with public restrooms water fountains paths and landscaping. The town would expand parking to serve 650 700 cars and finance via existing park and Milliken Street lots with 50 percent government reimbursement after each phase. Moriceo and Gary of Maine prepared the plan and BOR approval could take 60 days.
