Court backs limited church school aid plan in review
Catholic officials note four conclusions from a conference study on aid to church related education. Education in church related schools is a public function and may deserve government support. Parents have constitutional rights to choose a church related school meeting reasonable state requirements. Government cannot impose a single national education system. No constitutional bar to aid for the secular function of church related schools in proportion to the public function they perform.
