Released From Rights Murders Charges In Biloxi

In Biloxi Mississippi a federal commissioner freed James Edward Jordan 38 of conspiracy charges in the Mississippi civil rights workers slayings case. The hearing lasted two minutes and followed earlier releases of 19 other white men amid dispute over a purported confession. The Justice Department plans to seek a federal grand jury indictment.

U S Government Offers Increase In Viet Nam Aid

Leaders Back Joint Plan for Biddeford Saco Area

Local leaders and mayoralty hopefuls support a joint Saco Business Men's Association proposal to curb unemployment by returning to a single industrial development administrator for Biddeford Saco and Old Orchard Beach. Wiring Blamed In Fire At Maney Block Biddeford

Defective wiring was cited by Biddeford Fire Chief Arthur King as the cause of a blaze that destroyed the Maney Block at 58 Alfred Street last Saturday. The 1 a.m. fire displaced 20 residents, many losing possessions, and injured four Biddeford firefighters while drawing aid from nearby towns. The second and third floors burned completely. the first floor housing Dupuis Hardware and Plumbing, Sears Roebuck, and Mariami's Bridal Salon sustained heavy water damage. Owner Hilary Mahaney declared the building a total loss. An adjacent Morin Block had burned on November 19 from an overheated funnel above a furnace.

McNamara to shift 250000 reservists to National Guard

Secretary McNamara approves drastic streamlining moving 250,000 Army reservists and their units into the National Guard with about 150,000 more into a manpower pool. The Organized Army Reserve would largely cease to exist, expanding the Guard to 550,000. Readiness is the keynote as guard units would be ready within about 60 days for cold or limited wars.
