North Vietnamese Regiments Reach Near Saigon Record Strength

North Vietnamese forces have reached a record strength in South Vietnam with nine regular regiments present and four positioned within 60 miles of Saigon. Intelligence estimates place at about 20,000 troops in northern units, with Viet Cong totaling around 232,000 guerrillas. Infiltration continues at roughly a regiment per month, set to rise to 4,500 monthly.
