Mrs Charles Pollock of Elmwood Drive Saco phoned the Journal to inspire a young cone to lead a dedicated life by helping others Ann Pollock 18 lives with six teachers and attendants and eight handicapped children at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown Mass Her friend Carol Benoit 24 also from Saco is an assistant teacher at Perkins and lives in the same cottage Ann describes her first week at Perkins when she could not communicate with the children now Teresa Crowley who is from New Mexico chats with Ann Teresa a partially hearing and sighted child learned to say N by finger pressure on one nostril Perkins uses hundreds of methods to instruct their 300 students from around the world Carol who has studied at Brigham Young University and Northeastern started as an attendant and hopes to become a teacher Perkins offers masters while teaching plus summer and holiday breaks good pay and private rooms three gymnasiums a pool and chapel lead to many exchange teachers from India South Africa Jamaica Denmark and Iceland Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan studied here continuous on Page Three
