Biddeford appoints William J. O'Neill as superintendent

William J. O'Neill, 53, a former Canterbury Connecticut superintendent and Boston University PhD holder, was named Biddeford's new superintendent after Mayor Dutremble broke a 2-2 school board tie. He succeeds Andrew Frechette and will start immediately with an anticipated salary around 21000 dollars. Redmond's nomination had been alternately supported.

Fishing Limit Bill Explained by Maine Rep Emery

U S Rep David Emery explains H R 200 the 200 mile limit bill to about 30 local fishermen. The plan would create a resource protection zone up to 200 miles offshore and allow licensed foreign fishing with penalties for violations including confiscation and fines. Donahue Parley Date Set in Biddeford Case

Gov James Longley and the executive council set the week of Oct 13 to consider conflict of interest charges against York County ex district attorney William Donahue of Biddeford. Pre hearing date not announced. participants include Bert Prunty Gordon Scott and Lloyd LaFountain. The cross examination and evidence rules are to be determined. The hearing follows a July postponement pending constitutional questions about police removal hearings. The Maine Supreme Court ruled the statute constitutional.
