City official Bernal B Allen says hotels and restaurants report top business, with 80 000 to 100 000 visitors across 42 acres of exhibits. The building will serve as a food distribution center for Hannaford Brothers of Portland.

In Moscow an aide to Leonid Brezhnev indicated a possible personal meeting with Barbara Powers to hear her plea for clemency for husband Francis Gary Powers. American lawyers Frank Rogers and Alexander Parker delivered her handwritten letter seeking a reduced sentence from espionage. If no meeting with Khrushchev or Brezhnev is arranged, Powers plans to leave Moscow for Paris with her mother and Dr. Baugh.
