Bahnsen Loses No-Hitter With One Out Left
Stan Bahnsen nearly pitched a perfect game for the Chicago White Sox before Walt Williams’ single broke the no-hitter in the ninth inning. Bahnsen allowed one hit in a 4-0 win over Cleveland as Jorge Orta had four hits and three runs batted in. Orioles, Royals, Red Sox, Brewers, and Tigers also won in the American League as Al Bumbry and Amos Otis contributed key hits for Kansas City and a Baltimore nine-game streak continued.
