Camera from 1840 Found in Saco Museum Basement

A rare camera dating to the start of American photography was found in the York Institute Museum in Saco. Inventor Alexander S eet patented the device in May 1840, developed with Wolcott and Johnson, who opened the first New York photography studio that year. The instrument used a concave mirror and daguerreotype film, lacked a negative, and became obsolete as glass lenses emerged.

Biddeford youths arrested after Pool confrontation

Five youths and two juveniles were taken into custody after a crowd at Biddeford Pool and Fortunes Rocks clashed with police. The incident involved multiple departments with about 15 officers and an estimated 35 in the crowd. Arrests included Robert A. Bouthot and David R. Rousselle for dispersal and public drinking, with others cited for hindering an apprehension and disorderly conduct. All posted bail and were released.

Boston Senate leaders indicted for extortion in UMass plot
