South Koreans charge politics on Qouster
South Korean opposition leaders say the arrest of former premier Song Yo chang was politically driven. Song, a vocal critic of Gen. Chung Hee Park, was seized days after urging Park to abandon plans for the October presidential race. The junta accuses Song of leading student and citizen deaths during the 1960 uprising and orders for wartime execution. Another former premier, Huh Chung, warned the arrest ahead of elections may conceal government motives and urged the U.S. to reaffirm a stance keeping military men from politics.
