Resigned headline coach defends staff cuts at Biddeford High
Ted Gardner of Biddeford High fought back after the School Board announced the elimination of two football coaching positions. He said the action threatens the program and academic focus, noting the team’s 44-6 record and two division titles in three years. The coaches plan to remain teachers and may resign as coaches but not as staff. Gardner cited growing program size from 24 to 70 and warned the move could force longer on‑field time and reduced supervision.
