Saco-Lowell Anderson Named Vice President

Gordon C. Anderson was named vice president and director of research and development at Saco-Lowell. He will oversee the Research and Development Center and head the Technical Advisory Committee. He has a long tenure at the firm and holds degrees from Northeastern University and MIT. Anderson is married to Ann and resides in Clemson.

Chamber Takes Stand On Surfing In Old Orchard Beach

The Old Orchard Beach Chamber of Commerce voted unanimously to support maintaining current surfing restrictions. Executive Secretary Hiram Parish said surfing is allowed only before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. He noted surfers seek to lift limits and that the chamber would push for a complete ban if current rules are not followed.

Nixon proposes $10 billion transit over 12 years

President Nixon asks Congress to authorize a $10 billion, 12 year program to improve local bus rail and subway transit. The plan allocates $3.1 billion for the first five years with $300 million initial funding rising to $1 billion annually by 1975, plus $500 million for research and development and capital investments.
