Moody Woman Dies In Blaze In Moody
A 63 year old woman Myrtle Logan died en route to hospital after a fire at her one story Route One Moody home. Her large poodle also perished. Fire crews from Wells Beach Wells Corner and Ogunquit found her in a bedroom, smoke and burns indicated she was in the living room when the blaze began. The fire started in the living room and spread to the roof with smoke damage throughout. An autopsy was planned at Webber Hospital. Mrs Logan and her son Edward Logan of Kennebunk owned the Trad ing Post Gift Shop beside their home. State Fire Inspector Lawrence Dolby said investigation underway to determine cause. loss not yet estimated.

French Surgeons Transplant Heart in Paris Operation
The first French heart transplant operation was completed but the patient Clovis Roblain 66 is reported to suffer circulation loss and nerve complications. Doctors say recovery is anxious with no lucidity. the 23 year old donor heart came from Michel Guppaz injured in a traffic accident. Joncas, a University of Maine senior, delivered a winning talent and thanked the audience as her family celebrated.

Two Area Youths Winners In State Elks Competition
Maine Elks announce two area youths named state finalists in the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student contest. Louis W. Farber Jr. of Kennebunk and Shirley R. Valliere of Biddeford will receive $100 scholarships at a May 2 lodge supper, then compete for Maine awards May 18 in Portland. National awards may reach $2,000. $600 is reserved if no national prize is won.
