Visitors to Oregon’s 100th birthday will taste bison burgers at the 100 Day Centennial Exposition. Twenty two Montana bison arrived at Portland Union Stockyards to be fattened slaughtered and ground for burgers to be served at the fair opening June 10.

Plans Made For MS Fund Raising Drive in York County
York county leaders announced the 1959 Multiple Sclerosis fund-raising campaign at an MS organizers meeting at Hotel Thacher. William Lawrence directed arrangements for the dinner and welcomed guests. New county officers were named including Leon Shevenell and David Bradford as treasurers for Saco and Biddeford respectively, with Richard Gray and Robert Kimball also serving as treasurers. Old Orchard Beach chairs were appointed for Atty David Marshall and Mrs. Robert Smith and Mrs. Russell Morse as women’s co-chairs. Local chairmen for Biddeford and Saco were Richard A. Moore and George Nicoletos. State leaders Clyde Barrows and Alfonso Ibarguen spoke along with Dr. George L. Maltby and MS Maine State Society director Mrs. Jean Dumont, addressing about 40 attendees on campaign goals. Registration was handled by Mrs. William Lawrence of Old Orchard Beach.
