Limerick murder suspect held after capture by state police

Blood spattered evidence marked the Limerick double murder scene as Edward Martell and his mother were found shot in their home. State police captured Henry Louis Pete Martell, 26, at West Baldwin after an Amber alert was issued. The elder Martell and his 90 year old mother had raised Pete, and the missing car was found near the arrest site. Continued on Page Two.

Writers ponder bid to end Hollywood strike

The Writers Guild of America will consider offers on Thursday from seven television film companies to end a three month long writers' strike. A guild spokesman said the films account for about 10 percent of those struck, but the overtures may set a pattern for settlement with the remaining companies. The strike began January 16 and involves 3,000 writers.

Kennedy and Nixon Lead in Primary Returns Amid Write-Ins

The Associated Press reports Kennedy dominated Pennsylvania and Massachusetts with write-in totals, while Nixon, the lone Republican on the ballot, cleared significant votes. In Pennsylvania Kennedy led Democratic write-ins with 150,412. Nixon won 864,120 Republican votes, edging Eisenhower’s 1952 tally. Massachusetts echoed Kennedy strength with 72,464 write-ins, Stevenson second in both states, Rockefeller far behind Nixon in Massachusetts.
