In Morrow Ohio three small Sedat cars from the Railway Exposition Co vanished from a railroad bridge on an old track used for scenic trips. Fears rise they were dumped into a river as no sightings have been reported.
Houston based engineer John Felter proposes a whole house fan to ventilate the White House this summer. He argues air movement can cool homes without air conditioning and offers to install the system at a cost under ten thousand dollars. Felter touts the method as affordable for the poor and cites a 65 degree winter target and 82 degree summer comfort.
President Carter pledges to fight to the last vote in Congress for authority to raise a standby gasoline tax as part of his energy strategy. He says the tax will curb wasteful driving and could be offset by income tax credits, with rates rising in steps through 1987 depending on consumption.
