Old Orchard Beach considers 15000 tax rebate impact

The town council heard that the senior citizens property tax rebate proposal would cost about 15000 in reduced revenues. 119 seniors are in the state program with an average $193 rebate. the local plan would add 31 more eligible seniors and ease income limits.

Woods fire blamed on mini bike near Portland Road

A spark from a mini bike started a woods fire Wednesday at 1 07 p.m. burning about two acres along Portland Road. Old Orchard Beach fire department assisted. Land owned by Nicholas Scontras.

Maine Gay Symposium III Names Two Keynote Speakers

The Maine Gay Symposium III at the University of Maine Portland-Gorham campus will feature Dolores Klaich author of Woman Plus Woman and Richard Steinman associate professor of social welfare as keynote speakers.
