Willowbrook to host Agricultural Day in Maine village
Willowbrook Village in Newfield presents Agricultural Day on Saturday August 17 featuring 19th century life displays hay rides a sack race skills contests egg balancing croquet and a 1950s Ferris wheel activity. Visitors can see blacksmiths at portable anvils talk with Revolutionary War reenactors and enjoy a bean supper starting at 5 30 PM.

Saco lighthouse art project set for updates
Saco prepares updates to the 12 foot Lighthouse on Parade piece with 62 lighthouse panels. Artist Johanna Hoffman and Chet Wancewicz led the 2003 painting at Wardwell facility, dedicating about 300 hours from February to March. Nonprofits partner for bike rides and family fun
Biddeford based Community Bicycle Center teams with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine for The Chain Reaction a bike ride fundraiser with activities at Pumpkin Valley Farm in Dayton on Sept 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event celebrates kids and the adults who mentor them and offers a family fun day with participants free to bike or stay at the farm. Proceeds will be split between the two groups both organizations providing positive role models for youth.

Breakaway 5K funds MAPS scholarships in Old Orchard Beach
Aug 17 marks the 18th Breakaway 5K and Nat and Marilyn Golzbein Fun Run to fund MAPS scholarships. MAPS pays nine $1,000 awards to local graduating seniors named after four educators from Old Orchard Beach. Retired educator Louie Ladakakos started the race. MAPS began in 2003 to disperse funds.
