In the Senate on Wednesday the 9th instant a joint resolution to adjourn March 24 and reconvene July 19 was passed with no salary during the recess by 23 to 7. A resolution requesting state Treasurer details on Nicholson Lands receipts and expenditures was agreed to. On Thursday the 10th the Madison county bill, creating a new county from Luzerne and Columbia with seat at Berwick, passed the Senate 15 yes 12 no. in the House the Madison bill was defeated on second reading. The House also negatived the county seat move for Columbia from Danville to Bloomsburg by a substantial majority.
