People Sniffer May Banish Fingerprinting

Washington scientists report a new odor based identification method that could rival fingerprints and blood types. Researchers at the Chicago Research Institute say each person has a unique chemical signature in their odor, detectable by breathing air through a glass cylinder. Potential uses include identification, medical diagnosis, emotion monitoring, and tracking chemical inclinations to addiction, with unknown effects on perfumery.
