Khrushchev Backtracked From Line On U.S. Government Vs. the People

New York AP notes Khrushchev toured the United States and told reporters little about reshaping his view. He suggested no major change in his stance, saying he saw no difference between the U.S. government and the people in their desire for peace. He praised American prosperity and living standards while avoiding commitments to abandon cold war aims. He came to talk and not to learn, leaving no belief of a Kremlin shift.
