Buttenheim Publishing Moves to Berkshire County
Buttenheim Publishing Co shifts from New York to Lenox and Berkshire Common, first Berkshire tenant expected early 1970. The 36 hour move saved one production day after eight months of planning, with 30 New York staff relocating and about 90 local hires planned. The move aims to curb rising costs and offer staff and families a quieter rural setting.

Open space planning reshapes land use for communities
A new approach to land use emphasizes open space planning to maximize each lot, integrate recreation, light, air, privacy, and safety. It contrasts with conventional grids, favors curved streets, greenbelts, and cul de sacs, enabling walkable elementary routes and separation of pedestrians from traffic. Collaboration by the National Association of Home Builders and the Urban Land Institute since 1960 has guided nationwide policy.
