Founder Kills Wife Then Wounds Self in Arts Center dispute
Charles Farmer head of Middlesex Engineers shot and killed his wife Barbara in their Highland Park mansion and then shot himself. dispute over continued financing of the Berkshire Cultural Center in Middlefield. Mrs Farmer 50, a Hungarian native, was with a lawyer when killed. Farmer 63 in fair condition at a New Brunswick hospital. The Berkshire Center near completion on a 100 acre wooded site faced work stoppage since August. The center director Waylande Gregory reports substantial funds already invested and plans to finish, with Mrs. Farmer owning 40 percent of the enterprises and a new will in place. He intends to lead the center at ten thousand dollars yearly.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. AP The Air Force called off a search for the United States first winged spacecraft after a 19 hour Atlantic hunt. The 1100 pound payload apparently sank though some data on pressures and temperatures was retrieved. A second launch in the series is planned for December.
