Elm Street tenement reborn as modern rentals
Last August the six family Elm Street tenement was condemned by the Board of Health. This September it reopens after extensive remodeling by local contractor Amnie Bishop. Five 5 room apartments feature dropped fiberglass ceilings tile floors new wiring paneled walls modern bathrooms with ceramic tile and tileboard kitchens with spacious cabinets. Each unit has two outside doors. Bishop did much of the work himself and neighbors praise his renewal. The town Selectmen commended him and plan to attend an open house this afternoon and Sunday. Bishop plans to convert 12 more rooms into three room apartments on Spring and Dean streets.
