Four Berkshire County men took part in the Golden Egg Awards program sponsored by the University of Massachusetts. James Foster of Sheffield scored 98 points and earns a plaque from the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture for 95 plus points. he is the only contestant with individual cages. GE To Give Pittsfield Workers 9 Cent Hourly Raise
About 6,600 Pittsfield GE employees will receive a wage increase averaging nine cents an hour on Sept. 15 under the five year contract with unions. Based on the average straight time rate of 2.59, the raise totals roughly 8.96 cents per hour. The five year deal raises pay 24 percent overall and adds to escalator cost of living provisions. Payroll will rise by about 26,000 weekly to 1,375,000. John P. Geary, 28, of 17 Goodman Lane, was fined 50 for wet driving after a prior erroneous report.

Three Local Men Enlist in Army at Ft Dix
Three local men John A Cederstrom, Allyn A. Cederstrom. Allyn R. Anderson. Donald J. Spiewak have enlisted in the Army under the Buddy Plan at Ft. Dix New Jersey for one week of processing before basic training. They signed up for three years.
