The Pawnbroker at Capitol review blistering realism
In Sidney Lumet's The Pawnbroker Rod Steiger delivers a harrowing portrayal of Sol Nazerman a Holocaust survivor running a Harlem pawnshop. The film combines stark flashbacks with stark social realism, supported by Geraldine Fitzgerald Jaime Sanchez and Thelma Oliver. It earns critical praise for direction acting and technical craft, though warns it is not suitable for children or faint of heart.
