In Saigon a military court convicted three enlisted men from the 1st Air Cavalry Division of refusing orders to board a troop train in the United States and later to end a hunger strike at sea. Privates Hardd Brown 22 of Stanford Florida David Clark 26 of Coral Gables Florida and Percy L Green 24 of Chicago were sentenced to bad conduct discharge forfeiture of pay and prison terms hard labor. Green was also convicted of threatening to kill a noncommissioned officer and harm his family. They await appeal decisions. About one fifth of the 17 000 men in the division are Negroes.
